So the final round of group games took place yesterday and host nation Guatamala come out on top with Costa Rica. They will play in the semi finals tomorrow, the leaders of group A & B will be joined by Panama and Mexico in qualifying for this years FIFA Futsal World Cup to be held in Thailand.
Group A saw the US lose on independence day 2-1 in a tight game, Alan Aguilar finished off a counter attacking move reacting first to a rebound to claim the winning goal. For a full match review see ussoccer.com. In the other Group A game we saw Panama qualify for the Futsal World Cup for the first time with a 8-5 victory over Canada.
In Group B Costa Rica claimed the top spot hammering newcomers St Kitts 7-1, Mexico also claimed a place in the Futsal World Cup for the first time with a surprising 5-1 win over Cuba.
The semi-finals fixtures, will see Guatemala face Mexico and Costa Rica will face off against Panama with the final and third-place matches being played on 8 July at Guatemala City’s Domo Polideportivo.
