Canada were beaten twice by Costa Rica at the Palacio de los Deportes, the two friendly matches which were preparation for the up and coming 2012 CONCACAF Futsal Championship.

The games were Costa Rica’s last tune up games before the tournament and they won the first of the two games 2-1 on Saturday. The game was close and the halftime 1:1 score reflected this, Costa Rica took an Early lead just 3 mins in as Andres Zuñiga finished his chance. Canada struck back right before the half with a goal from Alex Elliot. The game was won with 45 seconds on the clock Michael Cordoba converted the winner in a exciting end to the game.

The second game was a different affair with Costa Rica cruising to a 4-0 victory with goals from 4 different players Zuñiga, Erick Brenes, Jose Antonio Guevara and midfielder Junior Rodriguez scored one goal each.

Costa Rica couldn’t have hoped for a better lead up to the tournament winning 6 of 8 matches all 6 victories coming against CONCACAF opponents (Canada, El Salvador and Mexico).

Canada will now travel to Guatemala to compete for the last place in the tournament in a two game play off against Elsavdor on the 28th & 29th June.
